Blog # 7

From my experiences in class I feel the most important methods for effective tutoring is anything that will get the student involved and understanding what they need to do or the corrections they need to make. For example the bumper sticker idea it really got me thinking and helped me form more complete idea and gave me more of a direction in where i was going. All from a silly little bumper sticker. Or the highlighting in two different colors.. One color pointing out my good idea ans one color cutting something i may not need or that might be throwing my paper off. Little ideas like this i found most helpful when i was tutoring and being tutored. The methods I'd use really would have to depend on the student and what he/ she was there for if she/he need focus i think i would do the bumper sticker or something like it. If it was more of a my paper doesn't sound right or make sense paper i would do the color coding where I'd give the student two different colors and highlight the stuff that makes the paper strong in one color and the stuff that may make the paper weak in another color. Both ways keeps the student involved and the tutor does not feel like they are giving the student the answers. My biggest problem that I need to work on during a tutoring session would have to be talking so much its very important for the student to hold most of the conversation during the tutoring session therefore I need to learn on how to get the student to talk more and make my questions more vague so they can ask more questions and maybe obtain there own answer with just a LITTLE but of guidance from me.
